Johanah Morelos Carrera, BSN, RN

Perinatal Clinical Nurse Educator

Johanah Morelos Carrera came to UC Irvine Medical Center in 2000 as a hospital unit service coordinator. In 2004, she had the opportunity to work in the perinatal department, a specialty that had always appealed to her. Carrera became a perinatal nurse educator in 2011.

While working as a perinatal nurse, she attended a conference that inspired her to collaborate on a research project. Carrera’s research project made it possible for infants to be placed skin-to-skin with their mothers within the first three hours of life for one hour. Currently, she serves as chairperson of the Baby Friendly Task Force at UC Irvine Medical Center.

Carrera believes in balance, so she enjoys spending her days off with her family, her dog Lily and friends.
