Mary Jean Christian, MA, MBA, RD, CDE

Diabetes Program Manager

Mary Jean Christian began her career at UC Irvine Medical Center in 2004 when she was hired as the diabetes program coordinator for the UC Irvine Health Diabetes Center.

As coordinator for the center, she was responsible for applying for and maintaining American Diabetes Association recognition for education and National Committee for Quality Assurance physician recognition for clinical care.

In 2011, a committee was convened to coordinate diabetes care and management at UC Irvine Medical Center ambulatory primary care sites. Christian became the diabetes program manager and continues to provide medical nutrition therapy and diabetes education at the medical center.

Christian attended Whittier College and received a bachelor’s in dietetics in 1977, completed a master’s degree in nutrition from California State University, Long Beach in 1981 and a Masters in Business Administration from UC Irvine in 2009.

Christian is a third-generation Californian, born and raised in Los Angeles County. She is also an active member of St. Matthias Episcopal Church and serves on the health ministry committee and is the dietitian and food safety officer for the church’s Soup Hour ministry.
